I knew when taking this path that the process would take a lot of time to develop but things are progressing with the natural dye garden. As we near the end of May 2024 we have steady growth in the garden. I was able to purchase Japanese Indigo and it is growing outside in the two raised beds I built along with calendula and yarrow! The photos below show growth from mid April to present day! It is taking a bit longer than I expected for the Indigo to grow but I am guessing there will be major growth spurts as we move deeper into the summer. I've been saving onion peels and avocado seeds to add warmer tones to the natural dye process. I'm pleased with the outcome so far with the plants. A few short years ago I was completely unable to keep plants alive.
I've slowly been sewing through the de-stashed 80's fabrics that were graciously donated to me. This has been fueling my creative fire along with custom orders from the MONOCHROME Collection that I debuted last summer. Mid June I will begin experimenting with natural dyes. I have plenty of Yarrow to play with and I have assorted flowers that will be great for bundling into intricate patterns on natural fibers. The seeds of the Moon Flower Collection are beyond being planted we are showing proof of so much growth. Stay tuned! There is much to be discovered, uncovered and learned as we move forward. <3
