My latest editorial with the incredible Dora. Creator of The New Wave Show. Next level model. Fashion designer and philanthropic goddess. She is wearing a graffiti dress, fabric painted by Richie Blanko, the genuine article when it comes to local graffiti. This T-shirt / Baseball shirt dress is from Citrine Tangerine's debut fashion collection, MONOCHROME.
I decided to go to the train station because of the new renovations. This place is set to re-open on June 6, 2024 and it just seemed right to place the graffiti which may have previously been inside this place, outside of the building. There are many murals that have been painted over and over surrounding this area too. I remember when a humongous group of graffiti writers came together to paint a production just around the corner from where we took these photos. Seeing all the updates around Detroit, sadly comes with art being lost and forgotten. Graffiti is what brought me to Detroit. I just love it. I'm sure there are tons of memories people have going into this exact building when it was sadly neglected for many years before 2024. Graffiti writers, drifters, outcasts and different kinds of folks would go into these spaces and use it for whatever reason. Now it will be opened with a festival celebration and spaces inside will be sold to the public for offices and what not. I'm glad this place is being utilized. It truly is a magnificent work of architectural art. I've never been inside before so if I do go inside, it will be my first time.
