If you’ve not heard by now, I’m designing a 20-30 look collection for @mifashionweek which will hit the runway on Thursday June 15 @ 8pm in the #easternmarket.

Citrine Tangerine MONOCHROME is a collection designed around this years Michigan Fashion Week theme of Black and White. I took this as a good opportunity to work with the timeless valuescape of Black & White. Hence the name - MONOCHROME. The collection is full of screen printed fabrics printed right here in my kitchen and hand made jewels that contour the whole body. All jewelry is hand made with gemstones and brass. Some clothing items are hand sewn by me, others machine sewn with the assistance of @808.gyptsylove / @neon_betterfly. This is my effort to reconnect fashion with people as well as promote community and my motion for thoughtful, slow fashion to gain momentum. Clothing is so much more than fabric sewn together and it is absolutely for all body types & sizes. In every stitch and inch of fabric there are thousands of years of humans creating wearables. Before we had machines everything was hand made. I want to be part if the movement to bring hand made garments back into the every day. This is my ode to all things hand made and the people behind the scenes putting that intention into every motion.

When I was a little girl I learned how to sew from my grand mother and home economics in middle school. I’d cut two shirts in half then sew them back together with opposite sides and embroider my initials or some graphic on them. Sewing did not really come back into my life in a major way until the last couple years. I’ve been thinking about the fashion industry deeply after modeling in it and learning about the cruelty of ‘fast fashion’. While working with @808.gyptsylove on a precious collection which was shown at #sbfw2018 - I screen printed ‘death by obsession’ and ‘love your self’ onto donated fabrics which Jessica masterfully sculpted into a vibrant and unusual summer fashion collection adorned to the nines with my hand made jewelry. That moment changed my life and I’d never felt so satisfied. So here I am in 2023 reaching for that feeling again but with my own designs & patterns as well as my favorite local designer & seamstress Jessica May.
